Protecting Children

Alcohol Awareness

The use of Alcohol by young people is increasing and we have a duty of care to children and young adults to give them an informed view of the dangers of binge and chronic alcohol abuse. Within this program the dangers and consequences are highlighted in a no nonsense manner with open discussions with students to increase the effectiveness of their will to say NO.

Protecting Children through professional training

Quote from a letter recieved at our Head Office "It was excellent to bring to the attention of the whole Year 8 the dangers of alcohol misuse. the tutorials were very effective with the emphasis on safety and keeping safe. As a result of both of these activities, some of our more vulnerable pupils have disclosed their activities, including in one case, where they are purchasing alcohol from. This information has been passed to the Police.Thank you so much for visiting us and we do hope that you will be able to come again." We were invited back this year (2011) providing another full day session for the children of South Wigston High School

Protecting Teachers From Violence at work

The use of Tobacco by young people is increasing and we have a duty of care to children and young adults to give them an informed view of the dangers asociated with smoking and drug abuse. ABSG have designed a programme that can be used to aid young people to understand the dangers of smoking and prepare them to give up the habit.

Smoking Awareness

UK Law and Guidance stress that a child's welfare must be at the fore-front of our thinking, therefore it is essential we include children in any solution to this spiral of Drug, Alcohol abuse and violence in our schools, both Teachers and Pupils deserve the right to feel safe in school including to and from Home. The Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 Section 45 gives power to members of staff to search pupils for weapons (amends 550A of the Education Act 1996 by inserting section 550AA). However many schools still fail to protect staff by formulating and acting on "violence in school" risk assessments that have appropriate control measures and even fewer head teachers train teaching staff in appropriate Physical Intervention training for fear of breaching the Childrens Act 1989, the United Nations Convention on Rights of the Child Article 37 and the DfEE & DOH guidance for restrictive Physical Interventions. Our training system clears up all of these Legal issues and makes it clear to Educational Staff as well as providing employees with effective lawful means for dealing with violence in the class room. The other side of our education programs deals with helping children understand the dangers of Alcohol, Drugs and Violence in an emotive and practical manner that is informative and aired in an open forum in language they understand helping Pastoral Support Teachers and others to develop their sense of belonging to the wider community. Involving Children in the Solution Protects everyone and demonstrates social cohesion and understanding of the Right to Life and the Right to a Fair Trial Our instructors are Enhanced or higher CRB checked, our instructors have young children at school and a vast amount of experience in dealing with children and Vunerable Adults

Reasonable Force: Palmer v. R [1971] states that “a person defending himself cannot weigh to a nicety the exact nature of his necessary defensive action”, which suggests that if a Person has good reason to believe that his/her actions were justified, a jury is more likely to find in his favour.

Weapons Awareness

Weapons Awareness and the effects of Knife Crime:With the unfortunate rise in knife crime amongst young people and the abuse of intoxicating drugs like alcohol and other drugs, it's important to bring the realities into the class room enabling young people to understand the effects of violence. Providing true role models that arn't career criminals on a free day out, but upstanding members of the community who have suffered knife crime at first hand and have had to clear up the devastation afterwards. This course unit is ideal for assemblies or full lessons

Bulllying - Human Rights: Understanding the issues

Bullying is not just confined to the classroom, but the behaviour starts does start in the early years of childhood and where is left unchallenged, it will evolve into continued unacceptable behaviour and occasionally it will spill out into violent criminality in later years. The simple process we use within this program has been developed from the scientific study of the butterfly effect which is explained simply and can be understood with clarity by young persons and teachers alike. This course is a powerful and engaging insight into the world around us, which will provide teachers with a tool to use throughout those parts of the school curriculum where team work and equality are vital to the development of young minds.YOU ARE A HUMAN BEING, AN INDIVIDUAL, ONLY YOU LIMIT THE LIFE YOU LEAD, DARE TO DREAM OF BEING WHATEVER YOU WANT TO BE
